CUPPY’S COFFEE: Established in 2008?

The NEW Cuppy’s Coffee has newly redesigned website that reflects some interesting changes:

Cuppy’s Coffee:  Established in 2008

The new ABOUT US text has some startling revelations, including the fact that Cuppy’s Coffee was established in 2008.  According to the new website:  "Welcome to Cuppy’s Coffee & More, where we pride ourselves on being fast, fresh and FUN! Established in 2008, Cuppy’s Coffee is a young coffee and smoothie franchise on the go…"

We’re Franchising.  We’re Not Franchising.

According to the new home page, under the heading "Join the Cuppy’s Family":  "We invite you to talk with a franchise recruiter and find out why we are the fastest growing coffee and smoothie franchise in the United States."

According to the new "Franchising" page:  "We sincerely appreciate your interest in our business. We know that choosing the right franchise to fit your needs can be overwhelming.  Cuppy’s Coffee is not currently accepting franchise applications, nor are we soliciting franchise sales.  You may still submit your contact information if you choose to be contacted when franchise opportunites [sic] become available. Please direct all inquiries to info@cuppys.com."

Location List Disabled

The newly redesigned website has the location list disabled so that you can search locations by zip code, but no longer view a list of the ever-changing list of locations.  The employment listings include stores that have gone on to that great pad site in the sky, like Copperas Cove, TX.

Looks like they forgot to change ALL the news on their webpage:

Cuppy’s Coffee & More and Funding Solutions form a winning strategy for franchisees
    January 17, 2007

With the help of Funding Solutions, Cuppy’s Coffee is bringing in 2007 with a bang.

A key part of the process in opening a Cuppy’s Coffee is finding adequate funding for a franchisee. By teaming up with Funding Solutions, Cuppy’s has been able to expedite the franchise process faster.

“A major reason for this success is the ‘partnership’ attitude adopted by all parties to the transaction,” said Jerry Jones of Funding Solutions.

Since beginning the relationship, Funding Solutions has successfully placed financing for more than 50 Cuppy’s franchisees. Over 95% of the applicants using Funding Solutions for their financing requirements have been approved by leading financial institutions.

“Finding the right funding for the franchisee can be a difficult process” said Andrea Olson, Cuppy’s Coffee & More. “But Funding Solutions has been able to team a number of our franchisees up with some great banks.”

Funding Solutions is not only there to help Cuppy’s franchisees obtain a loan, but they also help assist in planning the loan presentation, package preparation, and loan closing requirements. For Cuppy’s franchisees that do not have the time or expertise to complete this process on their own, Funding Solutions is an angel on their shoulder.

Cuppy’s Coffee attends Retailer One on One Conference in Orlando
    April 11, 2007

One day event will help company in pursuit of over 200 locations across the country.

Representatives from Cuppy’s Coffee will attend the 9th annual Retailer One on One conference held at the Royal Pacific Resort in Orlando, FL on Thursday, April 12th.

The event is designed for brokers to meet with representatives from major retail and restaurant organizations, such as Cuppy’s Coffee & More, to pitch the properties that they have available and to make deals in a casual environment.

Cuppy’s Coffee & More is growing rapidly, and is currently in need of over 200 locations nationally. Averaging between 10 and 15 new franchisees per month since January, 2007, the company needs an abundance of approved locations to stay ahead of the game.

Cuppy’s Coffee looks for specific criteria with each site that it accepts. “We know that location is everything, so we don’t take just any site that is offered to us,” said Marketing Director, Kendra Wilkerson. “We provide our franchisees with tools for success including marketing and advertising programs, comprehensive training and exceptional products, but in the end, it all comes down to having a winning location.”

Real Estate director, Dawn Kennedy knows that attending conferences like Retailer One on One gives the company incredible opportunities to establish new relationships that will translate in to positive growth for Cuppy’s Coffee. “We hope to get locations nationwide, and establish relations with new developers and brokers that will help our company grow,” said Kennedy.

As Cuppy’s Coffee expands, so does the need for excellent locations to house the company’s coffee drive-thrus, coffee cafes, kiosks and carts. “We are targeting all big cities and critical areas of the United States where it is difficult to gain locations,” said Kennedy. “This will be one of many conventions we plan on attending this year. The growth has begun; look out for Cuppy’s Coffee!”

For a company that was established in 2008, they certainly did alot in 2006 and 2007!!!

I guess these inquiries go unanswered, as the employee that receives them no longer works there and they were evicted from the address listed

Cuppy’s Coffee & More will… host a bow hunt for disabled children… If you are interested in nominating a physically disabled child for the hunt…

This is even worse than I thought…!!!

Hitler tried to change Germany’s written record books during his rule…..
As bad as this is, I think it’s hardly on par with the Holocaust.
That said, I do keep getting reminded of Hanna Arendt’s book Eichmann in Jerusalem in which she recounts how the unspeakable acts that occured were not so much the work of what we’d consider monsters, but of normal people showing up for work each day, trying to please their boss, striving for raises and good performance reviews. They seemed to be able to justify that they were just doing their jobs, following orders, etc. The horrendous result involved lots of mundane tasks, deciding the right gas, trying to increase efficiency of each step of the operation…

I’m pretty sure they had free daycare, too.

  • Should Cuppy’s add “Cuppy’s Coffee was established in 2008” to their fact or fiction link?: http://cuppyscoffee.com/trivia/

This is so deceptive and so not surprising.

  • Rachel Clark, wearing her franchisee hat, also gave a testimonial on this website: http://www.franchiseworks.com/franchise_main.aspx?aid=33

“Working with Cuppy’s Coffee & More has been an extremely positive experience. Everyone at Cuppy’s really cares about the success of my business. I had been interested in opening my own business for a while, and Cuppy’s Coffee had all the right elements. I’m starting to work on getting a 2nd and 3rd location, and they are right there with me.”
Rachel & Daniel C. Navarre, FL

Maybe they are “right there with” you because you work(ed) for them?

  • Guest

I was an employee and franchisee… and no, they aren’t always “right there with you” because you work for them. Rachel may have had help and support… from herself!! My husband and I had the worst possible support ever, and I was one of the first employees ever!

Cuppy’s new website shows Navarre, FL as “OPEN”. They have been closed since end of August and the owner (VP of Marketing of Medina) is filing bankruptcy. Morg/Dale hasn’t helped one of their own employees who was a zee… what makes anyone think Dale will help them get their store open?!

  • Guest

rachel tried to sell me that store for 350,000…she sent me some fake quickbooks spreadsheet that said the store cleared 10,000 a month on $400 per day sales….i thought it was a scam to make me buy it, and obviously it was, as the store is now closed and the owner is now filing bankruptcy!

  • I was just about to respond that everyone at Cuppy’s is probably so focused on opening unopened stores that they don’t have the time to update the website, when I saw this: http://news.cuppyscoffee.com/article/109

Amy, Robin, Dale: If you can update the website, it means your fingers are not broken and you have time on your hands. So why don’t you return calls?

HAHA… Cuppy’s changed the “about us” section and now says it was established in 2006.

  • Unhappy Ex-Employee

    Ex-Employees:

It is now the 26th and I know that I have yet to receive my final check and make the assumption that no one else has either. Below is a list of contact information and steps for filing the necessary complaints (If you haven’t already done so):

    1) Contact the US Department of Labor (www.dol.gov) and file a complaint. The phone number is (866) 4-USWAGE.

    2) Once you have made contact with them and advised our situation they are going to provide you with contact information to the local office that is closest to you. (Make sure that you notate the date and time that you contact them. If more than 3 business days passes after leaving a message for your local office, contact the US Department of Labor once again and they will directly forward your complaint information to the nearest office.) The Jacksonville office is the one that is closest to us. Their contact info is as follows:

    Jacksonville Area:
    USDOL, Wage and Hour Division
    ESA Wage & Hour Division
    Charles E. Bennett Federal Building
400 West Bay Street, Room 956, Box 017
    Jacksonville, Florida 32202
    (904) 359-9292
    (904) 359-9279 (Fax Number)

    3) Because we have not been paid it is assumable that Dale Nabors did not take it upon himself to pay the government on the money that we are owed either. You can contact the IRS Tax Fraud Unit at (800) 829-0433. They will direct you to either send a letter to them or complete and mail IRS Form 3949A. Below is a link to the IRS Form 3949A. I have completed this form and have included the letter that was received from ACC in regards to the termination of their relationship with Medina as well as the emails that Ms. Hiller sent out to us. The address to mail the form to is:

    Internal Revenue Service
    Fresno, California 93888

    http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f3949a.pdf

Hopefully, this will give Dale Nabors more of a reason to pay us what we have earned outside of the fact that we are rightfully due the money.
