We received the following franchise warning about the MATCO TOOLS franchise opportunity. According to commenter “TOMMY CHEUNG” :
“STAY AWAY FROM MATCO TOOLS. THEY WILL SELL YOU A BILL OF GOODS,WHICH IS NO GOOD.
“RUMOR HAS IT ,MATCO MAKES MORE MONEY SIGNING NEW FRANCHISES THAN THEY DO TAKING CARE OF THEIR CURRENT ONES.
“DARYL PRITCHETT AND MIKE RAMEY WORK TOGETHER TO SIGN YOU UP AND THEN KICK YOU TO THE CURB. I AM WORKING ON A LAWSUIT AGAINST MATCO, HOPING TO TURN IT INTO A CLASS ACTION SUIT. YOU MAY CONTACT JERRY MARKS AT MARKS AND KLEIN LAW FIRM AT [redacted], IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.
“I INVESTED ALOT OF MONEY IN MATCO AND AFTER 3.5 YEARS THEY SHUT ME DOWN. WHEN THE ECONOMY SLOWED IN 2008,THEY PUT ME OUT OF BUSINESS.
“I ALSO SPOKE TO A PREVIOUS EXECUTIVE, WHO CALLED ME, AND STATED THATS THE WAY MATCO DOES BUSINESS. STAY AWAY FROM MATCO TOOLS AND RUN LIKE HELL WHEN YOU SEE THEM. I REPEAT DO NOT BUY OR INVEST IN MATCO TOOLS…”
Marks & Klein is a legitimate franchise law firm that often represents franchisees in lawsuits against their franchisors, but we haven’t verified with them whether a lawsuit against Matco Tools is in the works or not.
WHAT DO YOU THINK? IS MATCO TOOLS A GOOD FRANCHISE OPPORTUNITY, A FAIR FRANCHISE OPPORTUNITY OR A FRANCHISE SCAM?

oops that should read
I guess that is what you do when you know you are wrong. You try and make your competition look bad.
Relentless. Answer to your question is 6 in 3 years. We have 24 in our district. Sounds like an 8% failure rate.
Relentless: Even though you criticize me for displaying facts, I will take your bait and list them.
1. Non Renewal because he didn’t want to get a new truck, was driving a 1996 truck, stickers faded, dents around the truck. He was actually given the 80% npa as well but he ended up getting above that. Nice guy, didn’t want to get a new truck. The guy that replaced him, was 22, didn’t want to work on cars, so Dad bought the route for him, yep, failed, apparently he just didnt want to work.
2. Ex DM, opened another business.
3. Widowed Spouse, daughter went to college, he followed her to the state she went to because it was his only child.
4. Retired, sold route to 2 guys.
5. Was active duty military got called back to duty, ahhh yes this was a good one, always complained route sucked, was at 80%, now the guy that replaced him is top 50.
So, 5 out of the 22 we have.
Just had at least 3 renewals in the past year too.
Relentless, what was I wrong about? Did you prove me wrong on something? Did I miss a post? Confused???
Guest3 do research before you type:
From wikipedia (which I would trust for information before you):
“Since 2003, Kobalt hand tools have largely been made by the Danaher Corporation.[3][4] Previously made in the USA, Kobalt sockets and wrenches are now made in Taiwan”. Interesting just like a lot of Matco tools are now made in Taiwan.
Reference(4) on that pag leads to (in part): Kobalt is no longer going to be made by J.H. Williams (a division of Snap On)
Kobalt was made at a plant owned by snap-off, not ‘made’ by snap-off.
Relentless, Guest will always tell you dont’ ask a question that you don’t want to hear the answer too. And if it is a question that you can answer with a yes or no, do it. That’s tip #3 for the day.
Hey former. Jh Williams is the division of snapon that makes there tools. It is not just owned by them. So they used to be “made by snapon”
Foot note (3) from Kobalt Wikipedia: referenced an article in the Washington Post, by Jerry Knight. This article was written in 2006.
(in part) …But struggling Sears has cut back its inventory of tools, and analysts at Wachovia Corp. now call Craftsman the laggard in Danaher’s hand-tool division. Growth in the division comes from professional-grade tools that are sold directly to mechanics and from increasing sales of hand tools to the Lowe’s home-improvement chain.
Danaher’s tools and components division is the smallest of Danaher’s three operating units and the only one whose sales slipped last year. The division generated $1.3 billion in revenue last year, down $12 million from 2004.
Former…really Wikepedia. are you F’n serious. LMFAO, Wikepedia is a joke!!! Anyone can type anything they want in there. I could type that your mother had baby chimps instead of real kids if I wanted too. That’s some good stuff. Wikepedia..Ha, Ha, Ha, I am still laughing.

I just wanted to add my 2 cents. Well a nickle really, considering that I work for Snap-on and we over charge for everything :)
I was reading on your site about ‘who makes what tools’ http://www.team.net/www/morgan/tech/whotools.html. One part explians that the various manufactures use ‘the exact same forgings’ for all the various brands they sell. This is NOT true for Snap-on tools. Our retail brand Kobalt sold through Lowe’s stores, shares very little if any traits with our traditional Snap-on line. They are made in the same plants, but most of the manufacturing tooling is different. They are made by the same UNION skilled machinists useing the same tried and true processes. The designs for these tools are completly different. They use different material and are heat treated differently.
I hope this clears things up slightly

Wikepedia, I can’t Stop laughing….he MATCO Tools #1 Baby!
WOW! Tools are his life.
This website is your LIFE. You are a LAP DOG for Matco. You get paid to harass us on this website as damage control for Matco. If you were a Matco Distributor you would not be on this web site all day posting. You would be making that EASY money doing that EASY job that comes so natural for an a one stud like yourself. WHAT A JOKE! You have 16 posts today. I think you won some steak knives you can bubble wrap them and package sell them with a BFR186abcd or whatever part number that ratchet is this month.
Former, I must appologize, did some more research you are right Kobalt made by a division of Danaher. I didn’t look on Wikepedia though. I am still laughing but also at myself now.
Relentless. It’s called technology……..technology. that is how all of us have time to post. Smart phones aka blackberries, androids, iphones mobile WiFi etc.
Relentless, wrong, don’t work for MATCO. You may be refering to a bfr118tg, had you known that you may have sold more.
Lap dog=successful dbrs who can read contracts and follow them. Yep that’s me.
These guys are pathetic liars. 6 in 3 yrs. where are you from ALASKA?
Guest3 you forgot to apologize for your mistake; but didn’t hesitate to blast me for quoting wikipedia which quoted the Washington post and a Jh Williams press release.
I like this one too, from Wikipedia on Matco Tools: Before you comment check the footnotes for reference.
…Matco also produces their own line of high quality toolboxes in the USA at their Jamestown, NY manufacturing plant. They also contract several Chinese factories to manufacture their air tools, electric, and diagnostic tools.
“They also contract several Chinese factories to manufacture their air tools, electric, and diagnostic tools.”
You just don’t see that in their Marketing brochure. Maybe they should put that on their calendars :)
I wish I got paid for this. This is fun. It’s a great release. And nothing like presenting facts to emotional people.
See how ignorant you are that part number has changed 4 times since I was a distributor.
Why I am I ignorant because the part number changed?
guest2 is probably releasing himself as we speak.
Relentless. Not from Alaska and not a pathetic liar. Now why don’t you go crawl back behind the rock that your business failure put you at.
Former I did at 11-47

Relentless. Using perverted thoughts. Wow gutter mind = failed professional living in a box down by the river.
You don’t get it? I thought you were all knowing? You am ignorant because Matco changes the tools on a regular basis so that Distributors who try to return them a month later will be told that is not the most current part number and you can’t return it.
I felt the below is relevant to the cause:
This is only a partial post, see the Danaher website for the complete text. Address below.
Danaher Corporation is building a premier global enterprise… and we have a reputation for dealing honestly and fairly with our investors, business partners, customers, associates and competitors. Our commitment to integrity and our reputation is the foundation for Danaher’s success: your integrity as a Danaher associate is indeed our success.
Danaher’s continued success depends on making sure our associates conduct business with integrity and in full compliance with the laws that apply to us, as well as our Standards of Conduct (SOC) and operating policies and procedures. That’s why your voice is so important; we rely on you to speak up if you know of conduct that may compromise our SOC or violate the laws under which we operate. When it comes to integrity and compliance, silence doesn’t help us–it hurts. When you speak up, you help us correct potential problems for Danaher.

Never been would love to be up there, 2 guys up there are in the top 15, I believe 2 more in the top 200….shoot AK not for me, too cold.
Liar nope, you asked, I answered.
Still laughing over wikepedia, and partially because it was actually right. I really didn’t think anybody trusted wikepedia, I am sorry still laughing.
Not sure why, I am not a Danaher employee.
Relentless has slow internet. Can’t read. Low self esteem from being a failed DBR. Just remember relentless YOU started it.
You are the ignorant one then. I just sent some overstock back, some of it on my truck for year, and they accepted.
Doesnt have an iphone either, so not sure how we can post in the day. Still using a pager for his customers to call. Had time to count my posts, 16 times 2 minutes to type, shoot wasted 32 minutes of my life today, what should I do.
All Right it is time for a friendly reminder from unhappy franchisee .com:
Why should you not be a Distributor for Matco Tools:
1) You will get to work beside guest2 and guest3.
No need for any other reasons.
I think my work is done here!
You may not work for Danaher directly, your a business partner. And what I’m questioning is your Standard of Conduct with your business partner.
Guest2 and Guest3, have you ever violated ANYTHING in your contract (assuming your a franchisee)?
Yeah future Distributors these guys love Matco.
Yes I do love MATCO, MATCO is the #1 Tool Franchise haven’t been reading what I have been saying? Are you Ignorant?
By relentless you didn’t live up to your name?
OBC
Ok, just told a lie, not OBC, yes franchisee

Ok, just told a lie, not OBC, yes franchisee
I take it to mean: Yes, you violated your contract and you are a franchisee.
I think we should target you for termination!
Shouldn’t distributors who love Matco go to bed so they can get up in the morning and be rested to type again tomorrow?
I am pissed because my 80 high speed internet connection can’t keep with Matco’s home office connection.
Yes i do. FYI relentless other dbrs ask me for advice in my district because of my experience in running a good business. I hope your work here is done as you do not even know current part numbers.
Former DBR. I try not to break any signed contract I have ever entered into. And speaking of contracts there is one line no one else has said on here. If a DBR has violated the contract Matco has the right to terminate the contract. It does not say they have to terminate it.
Hey! What did the Matco District Manager say to the Distributor he just put in business?
YOU WANT CHANGE. You want low overhead. You want Quality. You want Stability. You want Experience. You want Trusted Brands. You wan Unparalleled Support. You want Low Start Up Costs. You want a Franchise Without Fees. You want a Home Based Business. You want to be part of Winning Team. You want a Support Staff. You want Profit. YOU WANT MATCO.
He said go out there and be better than your competition. Set yourself apart from the rest. MATCO has the best built toolboxes….Stand Proud, Be Loud….MATCO is #1
No. Nothing.
He said go out there and be better than your competition. Set yourself apart from the rest. MATCO has the best built toolboxes……..MATCO is #1
Yep need to go to bed, early bird gets the worm, plus my wife is home now and since she wears the pants in the house better go. Former and Relentless, talk to you tomorrow.
