However, the Internet contains numerous and widespread complaints that the franchised ServPro company inflicts more damage than it mitigates.
These widespread complaints indicate that SERVPRO may have a negative brand image in the marketplace.

Servpro is a highly rated franchise. These comments belong elsewhere - on ripoff.com - there are bound to be a few cases where something gets broken in the US when repairing after a storm!
I am located in NJ and we have a well run highly profitable Servpro franchise for sale.
Servpro west of Indianapolis is just like others a scam. they are not with the bbb of Indianapolis or the Indiana business association. or has a llc liecence of Indiana. Chad baker never came to see the damage or his team manger scott hopkns. they are not following the book by servpro. I found out that if they are not lienced by the state they can not do business and do not know what the business is about the corporate office of servpro needs to take action is respnable for what happens. because they are supposed to train these people. My insurane state farm sent tem out. the servpro west of Indianapolis took advantage of a disabled person and senior citzen. they did over 6 999 . 83 worth of damage to the home. destroyed a brand new bed that the senior citzen save up to buy for her disbled daughter.they tor up the master bedroom bath room and living destroyed over 3,000 in personal property.We filed a complaint with angie list and the franshie owner send a nasty letter. saying he wants his thousand dollar. or he threaten to take to court.. there fans got so hot it burned up the ref and lost food and destroyed the kitchen floor. this happened 8-20-2014
I contact randall issacassen in tn the head quarters he refused to knowledge that he knows chad baker of Indianapolis west he has pictures of the damages, . there are witness of he damages from friends and family. Whrn he sent out two young guys joe anf john. they threw the toilet in a shower tore down cabnets, threw the vanity and broke the sink.. the disabled daughter lost a brace for her left foot because they threw everything on the bed even wet stuff and the brace got damage from water and thrown stuff on tme estoryed lamps.
servpro west of Indianapolis also is a scam business this man only has 8 employees they do not follow servpro book and is not licensed with the bbb or llc insurance or the Indiana business association.. State farm insurance sends servpro out to handle the clean up. thy send servpro out. servpro owner chad baker does not see the damage before the destruction begins or a team manger to tell these young men joe and john what to do and how to do it. these two young men laughed and gigged like two girls while tarring up the home and causing 6, 999.83 cents of damage and over three thousand in property damage. that before they brought the fans and dehumidifier. they threw the toilet inside the shower and broke the sink and destroyed the vanity. they tore the walls and carpet up in the living room master bathroom and bedroom and hall. they water got into the other parts and servpro of west Indianapolis to clean that mess up again. the servpro west of Indianapolis called Mr. plumber to fix the leak. but it was not fixed because the floor was still wet. they threw wet things on the bed and destroyed a brand new bed that a senior citizen was saving to buy her disabled daughter. they threw a left foot and leg brace on the bed and destroyed that. they used the home owners towels. left wet furniture on the floor. destroyed pictures and art work. destroyed a old antique buffet
They told the senior citizens and disabled that they could not use the microwave and stove and oven when they used the fans and dehumidifier because the got 115 and 120 in the home. for eight days, but the home owners were reasonable or the fans and dehumidifier and could not leave the home for more than one hour. the fan and heat caused health problems to them and the pets. the fans and dehumidifier caused the ref to urn up and lost food, and burn the kitchen floor. the home owners also ad to leave the ac on at 70 for 8 days and the ac is 25 years old. this happen august 20th 2014 and still fighting with servpro corporate and serpro west. they also caused problems in the rest of the home.
the home owners who lived on a fixed income had to get those things fixed servpro caused 200 electric bill. th home owners do not know if the ac will work next year.
I wrote to Mr. Randall the president of servpro twice he refused to say anything. or even say there was a servpro west of Indianapolis. he seen pictures of the damages and loss. I even complain to angie list After I complained to angie list the owner of servpro west sent me a nasty threatening letter and lied, so before you complain to angie list better watch out.
So I dig some digging servpro west is not with the bbb of Indiana or has a llc lience or with Indiana business association. I found out by these three business that insurance companies must hire people that are lienced and bonded and have protection if anything happens. which servpro does not.
State farm had to hire another company to finish the job. Servpro is asking for 1,000 more dollars or suing I also found out because it is a franchise that corporate of servpro needs to step up and start closing them don or pay back customers. People need to write to the attorney general in the state write to the bbb call news station and write to their senator to find out how to get this business closed.
Did not follow industry standards in a sewer overflow clean up. Theft and destruction of personal items, mold remediation needed due to negligence.
Sewer overflow occurred 04/21/2014. ServPro sent to home via State Farm insurance. Began drying process without cleaning up or removing fecal matter from floors, toilets, showers, bathtubs, crawl spaces, flooring, sinks, cabinets and wall trim. Waited 5-6 days before removing soaking wet ceiling areas, creating mold growth.
As can be seen in dated photographs, took 5-6 days after event to clean up fecal matter sitting in bathing areas. We continually asked why actual removal was being delayed and told it would not matter because it was being dried. ServPro did not inventory anything they removed from our home. Many items were thrown away without being inventoried or photographed. We were told everything would be written down and photographed...it was NOT DONE.
Since receiving a partial return of our items back it is noted and photographed that wet fecal matter soaked items were placed in with dry items, not cleaned, and were covered in mold and mildew. They destroyed 100's of books by according to employees of company, used fire repair/odor methods (we had no fire).
We filed a police report after it was noted and witnessed by company employees that a lock box that ServPro had taken from our home, had been broken into by being pried open and robbed of articles within. Items sent BACK to SERVPRO that were coated with fecal matter and mildew after they claim to have cleaned them, are most likely now completely ruined. ServPro is holding the large remaining amount of our personal contents "hostage" because we are refusing to sign for release of full payment due to their shotty work and negligence. No where in a contract does it state they can keep our property and we want it back so that we can attempt valid professional restoration and to properly itemize our remaining items for our insurance company.
Due to lack of concern for our property, health (cross contaminated entire residence), and a general hostility by management, we do not want ServPro back in our home. We want our items returned. We want $10,000.00 for the out of pocket expense of mold remediation we had to pay a licensed professional company to remove the mold they also purport is due to ServPro's negligence.

As the Gentlemen said, this is not a compliment center for Serv Pro customers its for FRANCHISEES. If you must come up with a new forum and start your bitching secession there. Franchisees spend most of what they have saved in this business opportunity and these complaints are not allowing that to happen. so please stop and find another place to do such.
wow, can you delete the one lady's 10 page rant? How stupid is that! And the complaints I see on here are all about an unhappy customer, not a problem with the Franchise system itself. What a bunch of f***ing whiners!
We had a major flood in our home on 11/12/2014. The san Fernando franchise of Servepro did an excellent job of mitigating the damage and restoring our home. They showed up on time, left the property clean and kept my meticulous wife happy!
I would highly recommend servepro of the San Fernando Valley in Southern California
hello just to add to all of this I could an will never ever use or tell other to use servpro they over charge an charge for the same thing four times like to buy the box to pack the box to handle the box then the hourly rate of doing an then they charge 10.30 per pound of cloths to wash them they charge our family 8000 dollars just wash my cloths an never ask us if there is certain laundry soaps they gotta use me an my son both have a skin condition an are none broke out from head to toe from whatever they used on 3/4 of our cloths the other 1/4 they just throw in a box sprayed some smell good stuff on them an close the box an they charged another 8000 to clean walls doors windows floors furniture applances an didn't do all of it at all an they all said they got all the water damage an smoke damage out of our house but they lied threw there teeth I showed up to my house numerous of t when they claimed they was there that day working an was not there at all then they want another check for 5000 for covering a hole in my garage where the fire burnt threw the wall witch was about a 10 by 12 whole
so u can say what you want about how good servpro is they are no good useless company in my eyes an I hope the classes action law suite I seen on the net takes them out sry to say but I mean come o u are already at a lost an they wanna come in an take half of most peoples earning in a year this is not right I mean I went an ment with the manager an ask for a receipt and she hands me one the has the hours an how many square foot an boxes the used but no prices an ask for that an she said the customor don't get a copy of the price report an she toldly refused to give a copy of all the prices of each thing they clamied they did never use them ever at all unless you have a boat load of money an don't care
I had Servpro come in to clean up the damage from a burst water line.
I chose them because of their claim: " when we're done, you won't know anything happened".
The initial discussion involved what was going to be done and what I should expect.
During their initial cleanup, I found several areas of damage. When I confronted the owner, he blew me off. There was never any talk of repairs.
When they returned for the "post construction" cleanup, I found out that almost all of the original promises were ignored. The owner informed me that I should not have been told the original promises. I informed them I would NEVER use them again. Certainly a scam!!!
