Keith Miller & Misty Chally made a strong request to FTC Commissioners for better oversight and enforcement of The Franchise Rule.

It was the first open FTC business meeting in more than 20 years.  A great sign of progress to come.!

Senate Bill S.2162 SBA Franchise Loan Default Disclosure Act would require the Small Business Administration (SBA) to publish loan default rates by franchise brand.

House Bill 2946

House Bill 2946, introduced by Representative Janelle Bynum  would protect franchisees from wrongful termination by requiring a due process, allow franchisees to set their own prices and not be required to sell goods or services at a loss by limiting markups, rebates and kickbacks, define the renewal and transfer rights of the franchisee, and define the damages a franchisee may seek if the franchisor violates basic business practices.

Oregon franchisees look to lawmakers to create transparency business policies

Cortez Masto, Murphy, Feinstein Call on FTC to Strengthen Protections for Franchise Owners 12/17/21

December 17, 2020 U.S. Senators Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.), Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), along with Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.-09), filed a comment with the Federal Trade Commission, calling on the FTC to strengthen its Franchise Rule and increase enforcement of the rule to protect prospective franchisees. They recommended a variety of amendments to the rule, including increased financial disclosure, a ban on unfair contract terms, and protections for franchisees with limited English proficiency.
