The inability to repay an SBA-backed loan (or any franchise loan, for that matter) indicates a serious situation for the franchisee.

It’s likely that Honey Dew Donuts franchise owners who received SBA loans may have collateralized their franchise loan with their homes or other personal assets, and many were unable to repay those franchise loans… despite the serious incentive to do so.

Last month I bought an strawberry ice tea and a red bull strawberry drink and it was late at night so by the time I got home to find they didn’t put a flavor shot in my ice tea it was too late to return. The next morning I went for my usual tea and bought one and had also brought my ice tea back from the night before with my own ice cubes requesting a flavor shot so I could drink it. If she couldn’t it was fine with me. I figured id ask. I don’t like regular ice tea and was hoping it wasn’t going to go to waste. The lady at the window said “sure” as she went to put a flavor shot in it I heard some other woman yell. No way this isn’t our! I tried to explain I had a receipt and wasn’t lying. She said I was lying and humiliated me loudly in front of my children and other customers.. I scrambled to get my receipt for her but she was done with the conversation. I requested a managers number because of the humiliation and she told me no. Then after I waited for a while at the window she finally scribbled a fake number on another receipt. My children were upset I was upset and I explained it wasn’t about the tea it was the whole disrespect she gave me like I was trying to steal a flavor shot for homed tea in a honey dew cup… I called the honey dew asking for the managers number and was hung up on twice in a row and have not been back to the donut shop. It was the honey dew on allens ave in providence Cranston line. In rhode island

  • I just came from the honey dew donuts in lowell on middlesex st & i ordered a medium coconut, almond, mocha ice coffee & i got over charged & i knew that when i was given the total because i go practly every morning & order the same thing but the guy said he was right so i let it go.

When i got the receipt i noticed i was right & i was over charged. I was charged for a med ice capapcino which was more then half dollar difference. Well the store has a sign stating if you don’t get a receipt OR the amount charge doesnt match then you get a coupon for a free medium drink. So i requested one & the guy was arguing with me saying i gave you receipt & i said yes but it also says if the amount charged is wrong.

He didnt even let me speak because every time i tried he cut me off saying he gave me reciept. Then i pointed to the sign & he says i know what it says it says if i don’t give you receipt & i gave you receipt. So after him interupting me so many times i said your not listening & you keep cutting me off. So i tried to get someone else’s attention so i didnt have to deal with him & he said don’t call her. Im the manager here so you talk to me. I said well you don’t let me talk & then he raised his voice at me with the place full of employees & customers & said you want a free a coffee!! I give you a free coffee! I said i dont yell at me.

Then he handed me a coffee & i grabbed & left & didn’t do much more of it until now. I just think it very poor customer service & rude & disrespectful & they shouldn’t be allowed to treat people that way. He had no problem over charging when i knew it was wrong to begin with then once he knew he made the mistake he wasn’t even following the store rules. There should be a phone number for customers to call.

  • I am a loyal Honey Dew Donuts customers and at the Honey Dew located on route 138 in Massachusets just gave me the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced at a Honey Dew Donuts. The woman was to busy on her cell phone talking, not to mention she had her kid with her while she was working, and was irritated because I wanted to order two coffees and a donut. Not only did she make the coffees wrong but basically threw them out me. Also, I find it extremely rude when I’m trying to order and the woman is on her cell phone speaking Spanish, unaware I could understand what she was saying, and she was talking about me in a negative fashion. I will never go back to the Honey Dew Donuts located off exit 8 on 495 which is route 138.

To anyone considering buying into this franchise . Do not do it . You will be working to pay for BBIs lavish lifestyle while you spend each and every day of your life wondering what the point of owning a buisness when you barely make any profit . Their demands and fees are absurd . Just sit down and compare their rates and fees to Dunkin’ Donuts and you will wonder why anybody like myself ever agreed to purchase a HDD

Employee at the Mashpee location is not able to make a simple cup of coffee she is also why too touchy people as a general rule do not appreciate being touched by a stranger and she drives way too fast thru the parking lot unfortunately I do not know her name however anyone working at this location will know who I am speaking of I have had words with them there too

5 years ago they had 185 locations now it’s about 100. A greedy company moving in the wrong direction. Only the Bowens are making money as you work your knuckles to the bone trying to keep your location a float. Stay away or loose everything thing like many other franchisees. If you’re already in. Work on an exit plan now!
