Cuppy's CoffeeNot familiar with Java Jo’z or Cuppy’s Coffee?  Franchise writer Sean Kelly first began reporting early in 2007 about allegations of fraud regarding the sale of Java Jo’z drive thru coffee licensing opportunities by businessman Roy Snowden.  When Roy Snowden was convicted of tax fraud later that year, he sold the assets of Java Jo’z to Medina Enterprises Inc., owned by Robert “Morg” Morgan.  Sean Kelly’s UnhappyFranchisee.Com website and franchise news site BlueMauMau.org aggressively reported on allegations of fraud, deception and outright theft by Morgan’s Medina Enterprises, Inc. and its subsidiaries, including Cuppy’s Coffee and Elite Manufacturing.

In April, 2008 Fransynergy, Inc., owned by franchise consultant Robert Dale Nabors, purchased the assets and liabilities of the troubled Medina Enterprises, Inc., Cuppy’s Coffee, and its subsidiaries.  UnhappyFranchisee.com and BlueMauMau.org continued to report on ongoing allegations of fraud and theft under Nabor’s ownership  Lawsuits ensued.  Shortly thereafter, Nabors abandoned the company, leaving scores of franchisees on the hook for millions in loans and lease payments but no stores, equipment or support with which to repay them.  Dale Nabors and his wife Natalie Nabors were arrested in 2009 in Muscle Shoals, AL for passing worthless checks.

Michael Webster, franchise attorney and contributer to both UnhappyFranchisee.com and BlueMauMau.org’s Cuppy’s Coffee reports, has estimated that “there are some 200 or more franchise owners out there who have been convinced to hand over $30 million of their money to Cuppy’s [Coffee].”

I was a victim of Cuppy’s too, lost over $37,000 (ouch it hurts to even write that) I would love to see them land in jail for what they have done, like Madoff they have stolen from people that were trying to follow their dreams of starting their own business. They no morals and should pay for what they have done. I would love to be compensated for the money I lost, would you!?

All who have had their life changed for the worst and had their saving stolen, use the FBI contact website to register. Let’s NOT give up, ever. Keep the pressure on. Morgan must be feeling the pressure to leave for Sweden. Hope his plane never reaches it’s destination. Morgan is evil and no appology from him will ever satisfy me. Unless he says it while jumping off a very tall bridge on the way down.

Dale Nabors is reportedly in Florence, AL trying to pass himself off as a website designer. He has enough time on his hands to make embarrassing video tributes to his (ex?) wife Natalie and post them to his crappy tribute website along with his really pathetic love poetry.

    http://natalienabors.com/wordpress/2011/04/14/natalie/

Here is one of his blog entries:
“Before I Ever Knew You, I Dreamed of You are sentiments I’ve shared with Natalie Nabors for a very long time. Natalie was – is — and always will be my ‘Dream Girl”, — A Dream Come True! I’m sure that If God had blessed me with the ability to sing, or even write a song, I would have put those words to music many years ago. He did not, so I have not. Fortunately for us all He did bless me with the wisdom and understanding to know that I am not a singer or song writer… Here is my visual interpretation of the song, I dedicate it to the love of my life, my wife, Natalie Nabors, who to me and for me has always been the Face of Love. As I confessed above, I’m no poet – and Natalie you certainly know it. However, in my efforts to come up with an intro to this piece, I did write MY FIRST EVER poem, if you can call it that. I know it’s corny, dorky, and lame but I have no shame, because it just my way of saying you started out as the “Girl of my Dreams”, and you’ll always remain the same.

“It was like De Javu. The first time I ever saw you.”

Seriously, the guy can’t even spell Deja vu and is to lazy to look it up.

The first to hold responsible is the FBI, and Florida Department of Justice, they should already confiscate the assets of the Cuppys Owner and give us our money back, we did work hard for our money, and I am like other almost file Bankruptcy due to this loss” $45000+”, I will be waiting to see what the FBI will do for us
    Thanks

Just happened to Google Cuppy’s Coffee again, as I do every now and then, yes I was/am a victim with monetary losses. I came across this web-site http://www.unhappyfranchisee.com/fbi-cuppys-coffee-investigation/ and was pleased to see something. I hope this is legitimate. I am sure there are people in front of me that lost a lot more, although it would be nice to think we may be able to recoup something somehow. At this point, if money is not on the table, I might be satisfied with some new and working equipment that may have been seized by the FBI. I might feel like I got something other than screwed for our investment.

I was bilked out of $20,000 back in 2003 by Java Jo’z, i.e Roy Snowden, Ben Doyle, Phil Keesee, Kimberly Snowden etc.

I’ve saved all the contact details to everyone involved from from back then, and have lots of documentation with email correspondence, including some from Roy Snowden demanding an apology from one disgruntled franchisee that was apparently CC’d to his company directory along with all the others who were scammed.

It would be nice to be reimbursed after so many years…is this investigation still open?

I was suppose to open a franchise called java Brewing that was based out of Boston. I was connected with a fellow by the name of Chris. He gave me all this information about this is a great franchise, I can make a lot of money, they will help me find a location, etc etc. This went on for months and months and every time I found a location java said it wasn’t the right spot. During this process I gave java a $35k to buy the franchise. I was on the phone with this Chris fellow almost every day wondering what’s going on and why isn’t this moving? Then when I was ready to ask for my money back Chris’s phone is disconnected. I eventually found out Java Brewing went out of business, my $35k was never returned and my store was never opened.

So I was so wondering if this happen to anyone else out there? I have legal representation but the more people this happened too the better of a case. Please respond to my post if you were a victim and give me your emaill address.

My husband and I lost $50k after investing in Java Joz’. We had never invested in anything, but decided after research and spending time at 2 different Java Joz locations that were within 3 hours of us, seeing the operations and also spending hours on the phone with management and the “grandparent” type mentors the company hired to make us feel comfortable (which definitely did the job), we decided to take every penny we had and try to make a better life for our children and leave something for them. Much to our surprise we quickly found out everything promised in our so-called contract was false, even though we had it looked over and verified by a lawyer in our state. We were told our money would NOT be returned and we would not get our equipment, etc. We were devastated and are still reeling from the ordeal after all these years. We have felt so helpless and have found no recourse from any government or local Florida authorities. We just could not believe that this so-called company picked up and moved their scam to Alabama to start over and on from there to steal from more innocent people. We just pray some agency will step up to the plate and stop this unnecessary ruination of innocent people’s lives. Please send us the form or whatever is necessary and we will certainly file our story. Thank you.

Wow, these stories are bringing back painful memories of Cuppy’s Coffee. To be honest, some of you people who did not get your store nor your 30 or 40K deposits back should, actually, count your blessings. I got my store but it was at 4 times the construction costs which wiped out most of my working capital to get going which forced me to borrow more money to try and stay afloat. Not too mentioned I was lured into a mall setting and lied to by folks that were hired by Cuppy’s to get franchisees good locations. Same deal… They promised everything and delivery nothing. So, due to the loans we needed to take out and the lease we needed to sign we were almost $500k in debt (if you take the 10-year lease into consideration) which forced us to declare bankruptcy. Credit is shot. Can’t even get financing for some much needed furniture in our home due to this credit problem. I would love to try and re-capture the lost funds but seems pretty futile. Onward…..

What do we do now??? Was that form and number for redacted legitimate? I’m a single mother who lost everything, at the time I was pregnant with my now 8 year old daughter. Yes, I also had a 30k loss which was everything I had. It has been very difficult and now I’ve just been picking up the broken pieces ever since.

Joseph and Margaret ogonowski. I was going through old emails and ran across our FBI contact. ( have heard nothing since 2011) reconnected, gave FBI case # and received a reply that all was turned over to Florida AG. contacted them and got a shrug and questions “what are you talking about?” Send all info and will try to get it to the right person. Will do so but I believe this quest is HOPELESS.
